Advantages of Wall-Mounted Dual-Channel Ultrasonic Transit-Time Flowmeter

Introduction

The Dual-Channel Wall-Mounted Ultrasonic Time-of-Flight Flowmeter is a high-precision instrument based on the ultrasonic transit-time differential method (also called time-of-flight / ToF principle) paired with dual-channel technology. It enables non-intrusive, accurate flow detection—ideal for clean liquids, and works with diverse pipe sizes and a wide liquid temperature range, serving reliably in industrial and commercial flow monitoring.

Principle of the Instrument

Clamp-On Dual-Channel Wall-Mounted Ultrasonic Flowmeter refers to the time difference when ultrasonic pulses propagate downstream (with fluid flow) and upstream (against fluid flow) in a medium. In static fluid, propagation times in both directions are equal; in flowing fluid, downstream pulses are "carried" by the flow (shorter time) and upstream pulses face resistance (longer time)—this difference is directly proportional to flow velocity, forming the core of volume flow calculation.

High-Accuracy Dual-Channel Wall-Mounted Ultrasonic Flowmeter uses dual-path sensors with paired transducers clamped on the pipe wall, which alternately transmit and receive pulses for bi-directional illumination. A high-precision processor computes the time difference (Δt), converts it to flow velocity (v), and combines pipe inner diameter (D) and cross-sectional area (A) to get instantaneous flow rate (Q = v×A). The dual-channel design compensates for flow field distortion in turbulent/laminar flow, reducing inherent errors. The actual common installation methods of the sensor are shown in the figure, with the V method and the Z method.

Application

In municipal water supply, Bi-Directional Dual-Channel Wall-Mounted Ultrasonic Flowmeter measures flow in 20mm-5m pipes for consumption monitoring and leakage detection; in heating/refrigeration, Transit Time Flow Meter adapts to -35℃-200℃ to track heat transfer media, and with an optional module, calculates thermal energy; in industries like chemical processing, clamp-on ultrasonic flow-meter enables non-intrusive measurement of bidirectional flow (0.01-15m/s) without disrupting production.

Conclusion

Clamp On Ultrasonic Flow Meter achieves ±0.5% measurement accuracy, with non-intrusive clamp-on installation avoiding pipe cutting and downtime. Compatible with common pipe materials, Non-Intrusive Flow Measurement maintains reliability across extreme temperatures while supporting intelligent data logging for process optimization. The intuitive interface and dynamic zero calibration (compensating for transit-time zero drift) reduce maintenance, making it a top choice for industrial flow measurement and energy management.
