Open Channel Flow Meter UOC series Calibration Guide

To ensure measurement accuracy in field applications, weir type open channel flowmeter UOC series require systematic indoor calibration before installation.

This protocol outlines a standardized procedure covering device initialization, probe verification, parameter setting, output testing, and communication checks, ensuring reliable performance for various flow measurement applications.

1. Pre-Calibration Inspection and Initialization

Prior to installation, ultrasonic open channel flowmeter should be inspected indoors to confirm basic functionality. The ultrasonic probe must be aligned vertically toward a reflective wall to ensure effective signal reception. You can refer to the following pictures.

For high precision open channel flow meter applications, this alignment is particularly critical. The probe should be connected to the host unit according to terminal labels, with power supplied as per specifications. Upon startup, the device displays a splash screen followed by the main measurement interface. A flashing icon with stable readings indicates normal host-probe communication.

2. Probe Response and Dynamic Performance Testing

The navigation bar allows access to measurement displays and data records. To verify dynamic response, move the probe slowly while observing liquid level and distance values. Movement within 1m should not exceed 0.1 m/s. The instrument's detection blind zone (±0.5m for <10m range; ±1.2m for ≥10m range) requires ~5s judgment time for external targets. While the meter may occasionally misinterpret mid-range distances due to the blind zone, such errors are uncommon in actual flume type open channel flow meter measurement applications.

3. Parameter Configuration and Flow Calibration

In basic settings, select the appropriate weir/flume model and installation height.

After saving, verify that instantaneous flow values update correctly and cumulative flow increments, confirming proper hydraulic model application. This step is essential for accurate flume type open channel flow meter UOC series measurement .

4. Output Signal and Relay Function Verification

Use a multimeter to measure the DC4-20mA current output, the current output always corresponds to the instantaneous flow value. Modify the working status of the relay and the set value of the action point, and use a multimeter to check whether the relay is correctly delayed action.

5. Communication Function Test

Test RS485 communication by connecting to a host computer, ensuring proper data and command exchange to complete the verification protocol. This applies to all supported models including the UOC series weir type open channel flowmeter.
