1. Single Jet Water Meter
Definition
A single jet water meter is a type of positive displacement water meter with a simple structure. It uses a single, concentrated water flow jet to drive the impeller to rotate, and calculates the water consumption by converting the rotational speed of the impeller into cumulative flow through a transmission mechanism. It is mainly designed for small-diameter pipeline flow measurement.
Working Principle
When water flows into the meter body, it is guided by a flow guide device to form a single high-speed flow jet, which impacts the impeller blades. The impeller rotates at a speed proportional to the water flow rate. The rotation is transmitted to the counting mechanism through gears, and the cumulative water volume is displayed on the dial for users to read.
Key Features
- Simple Structure & Cost-Effective: Fewer internal components, low manufacturing cost, easy to produce and assemble, with competitive pricing for bulk purchases.
- Compact Size & Easy Installation: Small in volume and light in weight, suitable for threaded connection (mostly DN15 – DN25), and convenient for installation in narrow spaces such as residential kitchens and bathrooms.
- Stable Performance for Low Flow: High sensitivity at low flow rates, accurate measurement for daily domestic water use, and low starting flow rate.
- Limitations: Poor resistance to water impurities; the impeller is prone to wear or blockage when measuring water with excessive sediment. It is not suitable for high-flow or high-pressure scenarios.
Typical Application Scenarios
Residential households, small apartments, small commercial stores (such as convenience stores, small restaurants), and other occasions with small water consumption and low flow velocity.
2. Multi Jet Water Meter
Definition
A multi jet water meter is an upgraded version of the single jet water meter. It adopts a multi-point water inlet structure, which splits the incoming water into multiple uniform flow jets to drive the impeller to rotate. It balances the water flow force on the impeller, ensuring higher measurement accuracy and stability, especially for medium flow ranges.
Working Principle
The water enters the meter body and is evenly distributed into multiple flow channels through a porous flow divider. Each channel sprays a flow jet to the impeller from different angles, making the impeller rotate smoothly under the combined force of multiple jets. The rotational motion is converted into water volume data via a precision gear transmission system, which is displayed on the counting dial.
Key Features
- High Measurement Accuracy & Stability: Multi-directional flow jets make the impeller stress balanced, reducing rotation deviation. The measurement accuracy can reach Class B or higher, with strong repeatability.
- Strong Anti-Interference & Wear Resistance: The uniform water flow reduces the impact of impurities on the impeller, extending the service life. It has better adaptability to water quality with a small amount of sediment.
- Wide Flow Range Adaptability: Suitable for both low and medium flow rates, with a larger flow measurement range than single jet water meters, covering DN15 – DN40 calibers.
- Reliable Structure & Long Service Life: Optimized internal flow path design reduces energy loss, and the impeller and transmission components are made of wear-resistant materials (such as stainless steel, engineering plastics).
Typical Application Scenarios
Medium and large residential buildings, office buildings, commercial complexes, hotels, small industrial enterprises, and other occasions with moderate water consumption and variable flow rates. It is also widely used in water supply projects that require high measurement accuracy.
