Limitations of Doppler Flow Meters
Dependence on Particles/Bubbles: Doppler flow meters rely on the presence of suspended particles or bubbles in the fluid for accurate measurements. Clean fluids (like pure water or oil) without particulates may not generate a sufficient Doppler shift, making the measurement difficult or inaccurate.
Less Accurate for Low-Concentration Suspended Solids: If the fluid has too few particles or bubbles, the signal may be too weak for the flow meter to detect, leading to inaccurate readings.
Flow Profile: Doppler meters may not perform as well with laminar flows (smooth, steady flow), which often occur in clean fluids without particulates. They are more accurate with turbulent flow where particles move chaotically.
