What are the advantages of open channel Doppler flowmeter compared with radar flowmeter?

Open channel Doppler flowmeter generally refers to the ultrasonic Doppler open channel flowmeter, compared with the Doppler radar flowmeter, has the following advantages:

Higher measurement accuracy:Ultrasonic Doppler open channel flowmeter can measure the flow rate of the water section, which can more accurately reflect the flow rate distribution of the entire water section, and the measurement accuracy is usually up to ±1% or even higher. The Doppler radar flowmeter measures the surface flow rate of the water body, although the surface flow rate can be converted into the average flow rate of the section through the built-in model, but in complex flow conditions or the first use of the flow check set calibration coefficient, relatively low accuracy.

Strong ability to adapt to complex flow conditions: Ultrasonic Doppler open channel flowmeters are suitable for a variety of flow conditions, including muddy water, foam, and unstable water flow. Because it is based on the reflection of suspended particles in the water to the ultrasonic wave to measure the flow rate, even if there are impurities in the water, bubbles, etc., it can work better. The Doppler radar flowmeter is greatly affected by the fluctuation of the water surface. If the fluctuation of the water surface is severe, the reflected signal of the radar wave will be unstable, thus affecting the measurement accuracy.

Small impact on the weather: open channel Doppler flowmeter installed in the underwater or channel, basically unaffected by weather changes, such as heavy rain, wind, fog, etc., on its measurement accuracy is small. The Doppler radar flowmeter is measured by transmitting radar waves to the water surface. Weather conditions may interfere with the propagation and reflection of radar waves, for example, heavy rain may interfere with the radar signal, and strong winds will aggravate the fluctuation of the water surface, thus affecting the measurement accuracy.

Suitable for long-term continuous monitoring: Because the open-channel Doppler flowmeter is relatively less affected by environmental factors and has stable performance, it is more suitable for long-term and continuous monitoring of open-channel flow, which can provide more stable and reliable data. Doppler radar flowmeter may fluctuate or be inaccurate in some bad weather or special environmental conditions, and the stability of long-term continuous monitoring is slightly poor.
