Ultrasonic Flow Meters

What factors will affect mechanical water meter’s work ?

The main factors affecting the metering accuracy of mechanical water meters are as follows:

1. Water flow rate: Deviations from the rated flow range (especially ultra-low or ultra-high flow) will directly reduce measurement accuracy.
2. Water quality: Impurities, sediment, or scale in water can wear internal components or hinder impeller rotation.
3. Installation conditions: Improper installation (e.g., insufficient straight pipe sections, incorrect horizontal/vertical orientation) disrupts stable water flow.
4. Component wear: Long-term use causes abrasion of impellers, gears, or bearings, leading to rotational resistance changes.
5. Temperature and pressure: Extreme temperatures (freezing or overheating) or unstable water pressure affect component fit and water viscosity.
6. Meter caliber matching: Mismatch between the meter’s nominal caliber and actual pipe flow demand causes measurement deviations.
7. Manufacturing precision: Tolerances in the processing of core components (impeller, gear train) impact transmission accuracy.
8. Aging of sealing parts: Deteriorated seals may cause internal leakage, resulting in undercounting of water volume.
