The flow measurement principle of multi-channel ultrasonic flowmeters is basically the same as that of single-channel ultrasonic flowmeters. However, during flow measurement, multiple sensors are installed on the cross-section of the fluid flow. By accurately measuring the time difference of ultrasonic waves propagating along and against the water flow in each channel, the flow rate is calculated using the method of weighted integration. Therefore, compared with single-channel flowmeters, multi-channel flowmeters have a stronger adaptability to changes in the flow pattern distribution and higher measurement accuracy. They can be used for large-diameter pipelines and pipelines with complex flow pattern distributions. However, the installation and positioning of multi-channel sensors are complex, and multi-channel ultrasonic flowmeters are expensive.
