Ultrasonic Flow Meters

20+ Years Manufacturing Experience

Will Data Be Lost When Power Is Cut Off on an Ultrasonic Flowmeter ?

No. In general, ultrasonic flowmeters are designed with non-volatile memory and power-failure protection, so measurement data will not be lost when the power supply is interrupted.

Key parameters such as totalized flow values, configuration settings, calibration data, and system parameters are stored in non-volatile memory (for example, EEPROM or Flash memory). These data are retained even when the instrument is completely powered off.

During a power outage, real-time measurements (such as instantaneous flow rate) will temporarily stop, but once power is restored, the flowmeter automatically resumes operation using the previously saved settings and continues totalization from the last stored value.

Some ultrasonic flowmeters may also be equipped with an internal backup battery or supercapacitor, which allows the internal clock and data logging functions to continue operating for a limited period during a power failure.

In summary, power interruption does not cause loss of stored measurement data or configuration parameters. The ultrasonic flowmeter is designed to ensure data integrity and reliable operation before and after power outages.
