Battery Life
Ultrasonic water meters are typically powered by built-in lithium batteries, designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation.
• Typical battery life: 6–10 years
• In some low-power configurations, it can reach up to 10–15 years
The actual battery life depends on several factors:
• Data transmission frequency (e.g., NB-IoT, LoRa, etc.)
• Ambient temperature
• Usage conditions and measurement frequency
Low Battery Indication
Most ultrasonic water meters are equipped with a low battery warning function, such as:
• Display indication on the screen
• Remote alarm via communication system
This allows users to plan maintenance in advance.
What Happens When the Battery Runs Out?
When the battery is depleted:
• The meter may stop measuring and recording data
• The display and communication functions may stop working
Solutions
There are generally two options:
1. Replace the Battery (if supported)
• Some models are designed with replaceable batteries
• Battery replacement should be performed by authorized personnel to ensure sealing and accuracy
2. Replace the Entire Meter
• For fully sealed designs (common for IP68 protection), the battery is not replaceable
• In this case, the meter is replaced as a whole unit
