Ultrasonic Flow Meters

20+ Years Manufacturing Experience

Can clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters be used for high temperature liquid?

Clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters can measure high-temperature liquids, but it depends on the sensor type and working temperature range.

The standard normal-temperature sensors are only suitable for liquid temperature from -35℃ to 85℃.

They cannot be used for high-temperature media, because high heat will dry out the coupling gel, weaken the ultrasonic signal, and damage the transducer chip.

For higher temperature applications, high-temperature dedicated transducers are required, together with high-temperature resistant couplant. The high-temperature model can work stably at medium temperatures up to 200℃.

Suitable high-temperature media include hot boiler water, thermal oil, hot process water and high-temperature edible oil.
