Difference Between Ultrasonic Water Meters and Mechanical Water Meters

Ultrasonic water meters and traditional mechanical water meters differ significantly in their measurement principles, performance, and applications.

1. Measurement Principle
• Ultrasonic Water Meter
Uses the transit-time ultrasonic technology to measure the velocity of water flow. It calculates flow rate based on the time difference of ultrasonic signals traveling upstream and downstream.
• Mechanical Water Meter
Measures flow through moving internal parts (such as impellers or pistons). The water flow drives these components, and the rotation is converted into volume readings.

• Maintains precision even at low flow rates
