Electrode cleaning is commonly used in the following ways:

1. Electrochemical methods

There are electrochemical phenomena of metal electrode in electrolyte fluid. According to the principle of electrochemistry, there is an interfacial electric field between the electrode and the fluid, and the interface between the electrode and the fluid is caused by the double electric layer existing between the electrode and the fluid. The study on the electric field of the interface between electrodes and fluids found that the molecules, atoms or ions of substances have rich or poor adsorption phenomenon at the interface, and found that most inorganic anions are outward-active substances with typical ion adsorption laws, while the inorganic cations have little apparent activity. Therefore, the electrochemical cleaning electrode only considers the situation of anion adsorption. The adsorption of anion is closely related to the electrode potential, and the adsorption mainly occurs in the potential scale that is more corrected than the zero charge potential, that is, the electrode surface with different charge. On the surface of the electrode with the same charge, when the remaining charge density is slightly larger, the electrostatic repulsion is greater than the adsorption force, and the anion is quickly desorbed, which is the principle of electrochemical cleaning.

 

2. Mechanical removal

 

The mechanical cleaning method is to complete the electrode cleaning through the special mechanical structure of the device on the electrode. There are now two forms:

One is the use of mechanical scraper, made of stainless steel with a thin shaft of the scraper, through the hollow electrode to lead out, the thin shaft and hollow electrode between the mechanical seal to avoid the outflow of media, so composed of mechanical scraper. When the thin shaft is turned from the outside, the scraper is turned against the electrical plane, scraping away dirt. The scraper can be manually or automatically scraped with a thin shaft driven by a motor. The domestic electromagnetic flowmeter of Jiangsu Shengchuang’s scraper type electromagnetic flowmeter has such a function, and the function is stable and the operation is convenient.

The other is a wire brush used to remove dirt in a tubular electrode, and the shaft is wrapped in a sealed “O” ring to avoid fluid leakage. This cleaning equipment needs someone to often pull the wire brush to clean the electrode, the operation is not very convenient, there is no convenient scraper type electromagnetic flowmeter.

3. Ultrasonic cleaning method

The ultrasonic voltage of 45~65kHz generated by the ultrasonic generator is added to the electrode, so that the ultrasonic energy is concentrated on the contact surface between the electrode and the medium, and then the ultrasonic can be crushed to achieve the purpose of cleaning.

The above is the electromagnetic flowmeter electrode cleaning method, so as not to hinder the use, but also to improve the efficiency of the electromagnetic flowmeter work.
