Difference & Application: 316L / Hastelloy / Titanium / Tantalum

1. 316L Stainless Steel
FeaturesGeneral-purpose & cost-effective; moderate corrosion resistance; poor resistance to high chloride, strong acid and oxidizing media; ordinary wear resistance.
Suitable MediaClean water, tap water, municipal wastewater, circulating water, neutral liquid, weak acid and weak alkaline solutions.
Not SuitableSeawater, brine, hydrochloric acid, concentrated sulfuric acid, high-chloride media, strong corrosive chemicals.
Temperature Range: -20℃ ~ 120℃

2. Hastelloy (C276)
FeaturesExcellent overall corrosion resistance; great anti-pitting & crevice corrosion performance against chloride; resistant to mixed acids, oxidizing chemicals and complex industrial corrosives.
Suitable MediaStrong acid liquid, chemical wastewater, plating solution, FGD desulfurization slurry, mixed acid & alkali media, severe chemical process fluids.
Temperature Range: -40℃ ~ 180℃

3. Titanium (Ti)
FeaturesSuperior resistance to chloride, seawater and brine; stable in oxidizing environment.Not resistant to pure hydrochloric acid and strong reducing media.
Suitable MediaSeawater, salt water, brine, cooling water with high chlorine content, desalination water, sodium hypochlorite solution.
Not SuitablePure hydrochloric acid, strong reducing acid.
Temperature Range: -40℃ ~ 160℃

4. Tantalum (Ta)
FeaturesUltra-high corrosion resistance; similar to glass chemical stability; resistant to most strong acids, alkalis and oxidants.Only corroded by hydrofluoric acid, strong alkali at high temperature and liquid metal.
Suitable MediaConcentrated sulfuric acid, nitric acid, aqua regia, chemical strong corrosive liquid, fine chemical & pharmaceutical media.
Not SuitableHydrofluoric acid, high-temperature strong alkali, fluoride-containing medium.
Temperature Range: -40℃ ~ 180℃
