How to choose the depth measurement of area-velocity ultrasonic flowmeter? Pressure or ultrasonic depth sensor?

There are two depth sensors for our DOF6000 flowmeter.

1. Ultrasonic Depth Sensor
2. Pressure depth sensor

Both of them can measure the liquid depth, but we cannot use them at same time.

Let us check the parameters of them.

Ultrasonic Depth Sensor  measure range 20mm-5m   accuracy：+/-1mm

Pressure Depth Sensor   measure range 0mm-10m    accuracy：+/-2mm

So the Ultrasonic Depth Sensor accuracy is better.

But in principle, ultrasonic liquid depth measurement has some limitations.

1 , for the pipe with siltation on the bottom, we have to install the sensor on the side of pipe. At this time, the liquid depth measured by the ultrasonic is shown in red, it is wrong.

In this application, we need to use pressure depth to measure the liquid depth. And set the depth offset in the meter.

2. For measure the dirty liquid.

When the water is too dirty, the ultrasonic signal cannot penetrate the fluid effectively and be received. Pressure depth sensor is recommend.

1. When the water surface fluctuates greatly and the water wave is large.

The ultrasonic depth sensor cannot work stably due to its sensitivity, we choose pressure depth sensor for this application.

Due to the wider application of pressure depth measurement, the default setting is pressure depth sensor before shipment. Customers can change it according to their application.
