What is the difference between turbine and vortex flow meter?

The main differences between turbine flow meters and vortex flow meters are as follows:
Measurable media
Turbine: Only for clean, low‑viscosity liquids (water, diesel, oil, etc.)
Vortex: Can measure liquid, gas, and steam

Accuracy
Turbine: Higher accuracy, generally ±0.2% ~ ±0.5%
Vortex: Medium accuracy, generally ±1.0% ~ ±1.5%

Media condition requirements
Turbine: Requires very clean liquid; easily damaged by particles.
Vortex: More tolerant to slight impurities, not easy to block.

Maintenance and life
Turbine: Has moving parts, needs regular maintenance, shorter service life.
Vortex: No moving parts, stable, long service life, low maintenance.

Application scenarios
Turbine: Used for high‑precision liquid metering (hydraulic systems, batching, fuel dispensing)
Vortex: Widely used for steam, compressed air, water, and general industrial energy metering
