Vortex flow meters are mainly used for volumetric or mass flow measurement, suitable for clean, low-viscosity gases, liquids and steam without serious impurities. The detailed applicable conditions are as follows:
Applicable Media
Liquids: water, hot water, demineralized water, diesel, gasoline, kerosene, alcohol, and various low-viscosity chemical solvents
Gases: compressed air, nitrogen, oxygen, natural gas, blast furnace gas, CO₂, etc.
Steam: saturated steam and superheated steam (the most common application)
Not suitable for high-viscosity liquids, slurry, media with heavy solid particles or fibers
Temperature & Pressure Range
Standard temperature: -40℃ to +350℃ (high-temperature types up to over 400℃)
Pressure rating: up to 16MPa / 25MPa (depending on flange class)
Covers most general industrial temperature and pressure conditions
Pipe & Flow Velocity Requirements
Nominal diameter: mainly DN15 to DN300, larger sizes customizable
Requires stable and proper flow velocity; low velocity may cause no vortex signal
Straight pipe requirements: upstream ≥10D, downstream ≥5D to ensure stable flow field
Working Environment
Suitable for industrial sites with general vibration (anti-vibration models recommended)
Suitable for areas without strong electromagnetic interference or with proper shielding
Can be used in hazardous areas with explosion-proof transmitters
