Ultrasonic Flow Meters

20+ Years Manufacturing Experience

Why does the flow meter show a value even when the pipe is static?

This situation is called zero drift, which is very normal for field instruments. It is usually caused by electrode dirt, tiny temperature changes or weak external interference.
The solution is simple and safe: close the valve completely, make sure the pipe is full of liquid and the flow is static, then perform zero calibration on the transmitter. After resetting the zero point, the meter will return to zero accurately. Regular zero calibration is recommended to maintain long-term measurement precision.
