Clamp-on transit-time measurement. No pipe cutting. No process interruption.

THE SHORT VERSION

With growing demand for accurate, non-intrusive flow measurement across water, energy and process industries, the TF1100-EC wall-mounted transit-time ultrasonic flowmeter delivers clamp-on installation without pipe cutting, a wide 0.01–12 m/s bi-directional range, and optional thermal energy measurement. This guide covers what it is, its key features, working principle, applications, why it outperforms traditional meters, and common FAQs.

1. What Is the TF1100-EC Wall-Mounted Ultrasonic Flowmeter?

The TF1100-EC is an advanced solution for precise, non-intrusive liquid flow measurement. Employing the transit-time principle, it uses clamp-on ultrasonic transducers mounted externally on the pipe surface, eliminating the need for pipe cutting or process interruption. An optional thermal energy measurement module, paired with PT1000 clamp-on temperature sensors (±0.1% accuracy), enables complete monitoring of thermal energy consumption and efficiency.

The transmitter supports a rich output suite including 4–20 mA, OCT, Relay, RS232, RS485 (Modbus), a built-in data logger, and optional NB-IoT connectivity — aligning with the industry's shift toward IoT-enabled remote monitoring. The wall-mounted enclosure (244 × 196 × 114 mm) houses a color LCD display with user-configurable units (English and Metric), selectable damping (0–99 s), and bi-directional flow measurement from 0.01 m/s to 12 m/s. Power supply options include 85–265 VAC or 24 VDC/500 mA, accommodating standard industrial panel wiring and remote solar-powered installations. With repeatability of 0.25%, the TF1100-EC delivers the data granularity required for leak detection, energy auditing and regulatory compliance reporting.

2. Why Choose This Ultrasonic Flowmeter?

Key features:

Non-invasive installation — transducers are easy to install and cost-effective; no pipe cutting and no process interruption.
Wide liquid temperature range — from −35°C to 200°C, without contacting the liquid, so fouling and maintenance are eliminated.
Built-in data logger — with optional thermal energy measurement capability for energy analysis.
Wide pipe coverage — for commonly used pipe materials and diameters from 20 mm to over 6.0 m.
Bi-directional flow range — 0.01 m/s to 12 m/s, capturing forward and reverse flow.
IoT-ready communication — 4–20 mA, RS485 (Modbus), data logger, plus optional NB-IoT and GPRS for remote monitoring.

3. How Does the Ultrasonic Flowmeter Work?

The TF1100-EC works on the transit-time difference correlation principle: the time-of-flight of an ultrasonic signal is affected by the flow velocity of the carrier medium. Like a swimmer crossing a flowing river, sound travels slower upstream than downstream.

The two transducers alternately transmit and receive amplified multi-beam ultrasonic signals — first downstream, then upstream. Because ultrasound travels faster downstream, a time-of-flight difference (Δt) arises; when the flow is still, Δt is zero. The transmitter converts this time difference into flow velocity using the formula:

Where Vf is the flow velocity, K is a constant, Δt is the difference in time-of-flight, and TL is the average transit time.

4. Where Can the TF1100-EC Ultrasonic Flowmeter Be Applied?

Thanks to its unique working principle, the TF1100-EC excels in many applications where traditional flow meters struggle, including:

Water & wastewater
hot water, cooling water, potable water, sea water.
Petrochemical industry
flow measurement on process and transfer pipelines.
Chemical industry
chlorine, alcohol, acids, thermal oils, etc.
Refrigeration & HVAC
refrigeration and central air-conditioning systems.
Food, beverage & pharma
hygienic and process liquid measurement.
Power supply
nuclear, thermal and hydro-power plants, boiler feed water.

5. Why Is the TF1100-EC the Right Ultrasonic Flowmeter for Your Operation?

In an era defined by tightening water regulations, aging infrastructure and the imperative for digital transformation, the TF1100-EC delivers accurate, reliable and non-invasive flow measurement that aligns with the industry's most pressing demands. Requiring no pipe cutting, no process interruption and minimal maintenance, it offers hassle-free installation, convenient inspection and robust performance across water, wastewater, petrochemical, chemical, HVAC, food and power applications. Backed by Lanry's full ecosystem of transit-time and Doppler flowmeters, the TF1100-EC is the ideal instrument for production monitoring, water balance debugging, heating network balancing, energy-saving monitoring and regulatory compliance — today and as the market evolves.

6. Why Choose an Ultrasonic Flowmeter over Traditional Flowmeters?

vs. Mechanical Meters
No rotating impellers or bearings — accuracy does not drift over time due to wear, and only minimal maintenance is required.
vs. Vortex Meters
Stable, reliable readings at low flow rates and across large pipe diameters, with no pressure loss and lower energy consumption.

The transducers mount directly onto the exterior of the pipe, eliminating pipe cutting and process interruption — ideal for aging and existing pipelines. When installation, maintenance and accuracy are considered together, ultrasonic flowmeters offer a lower total cost of ownership: the ideal combination of reliability and economy.

FAQ

Does the TF1100-EC require pipe cutting or process shutdown for installation?

No. The TF1100-EC uses clamp-on ultrasonic transducers mounted externally on the pipe surface — no pipe cutting, no process interruption, and no direct contact with the liquid.

What pipe sizes can the TF1100-EC cover?

It supports common pipe materials and diameters from 20 mm to over 6.0 m, covering most industrial and utility pipelines.

Can the TF1100-EC measure thermal energy?

Yes. With the optional thermal energy measurement module and matched PT1000 clamp-on temperature sensors (±0.1% accuracy), it can monitor thermal energy consumption and system efficiency for heating and cooling applications.

What liquid types can the TF1100-EC measure?

It suits both clean and somewhat dirty liquids with turbidity below 1000 ppm, such as hot water, cooling water, potable water and sea water.

What output and communication options are available?

The transmitter offers 4–20 mA, OCT, Relay, RS232, RS485 (Modbus), a built-in data logger, plus optional NB-IoT and GPRS connectivity for IoT-based remote monitoring.

What is the flow velocity range and measurement repeatability?

The TF1100-EC measures bi-directional flow from 0.01 m/s to 12 m/s, with a repeatability of 0.25%, capturing even low-flow conditions for leak detection and energy auditing.

What power supply options does the TF1100-EC support?

It accepts 85–265 VAC or 24 VDC/500 mA, accommodating standard industrial panel wiring as well as remote solar-powered installations.

What temperature range can the transducers handle?

The IP68 clamp-on transducers support a wide liquid temperature range from −35°C to 200°C, and since they never contact the liquid, fouling and maintenance are eliminated.
