The choice between V Method and Z Method mainly depends on the pipe size, pipe material, installation conditions, and signal strength.
V Method is the recommended installation method for most applications. It is commonly used on smaller and medium-sized pipes because the transducers can be installed on the same side of the pipe. It is easy to install and usually provides good measurement performance.
Z Method is recommended for larger pipes or applications where the V Method does not provide a sufficiently strong signal. With Z Method, the two transducers are installed on opposite sides of the pipe, allowing the ultrasonic signal to travel directly through the pipe and reducing signal attenuation.
As a general guideline:
V Method: Preferred for smaller and medium-sized pipes and when sufficient signal strength can be obtained.
Z Method: Preferred for larger pipe diameters, thicker pipe walls, or applications with weak signal transmission.
If the signal is weak or unstable when using V Method, try Z Method.
