What are the advantages of using an electromagnetic flowmeter in a corrosive environment?

Electromagnetic flowmeters have prominent strengths when measuring corrosive liquids compared with other flow meters such as turbine, vortex and ultrasonic meters.

First of all, there are no moving parts inside the measuring tube, which eliminates mechanical abrasion, blockage or corrosion damage to rotating components when passing corrosive fluid.

Secondly, we can flexibly select full anti-corrosion matching materials for all wetted parts. PTFE lining completely isolates corrosive media from the metal pipe body, while optional titanium, tantalum or Hastelloy electrodes resist erosion from acid, alkali and chloride brine. No direct contact between corrosive liquid and carbon steel shell.

Third, its measurement performance will not be affected by medium viscosity, sediment or tiny corrosive particles mixed in corrosive wastewater. Even corrosive slurry can be measured stably without signal attenuation.

Fourth, customized split structure and stainless steel IP68 converter housing are available. The transmitter can be installed away from corrosive gas and salt fog to protect electronic circuits from external atmospheric corrosion, extending the whole meter’s service life greatly.

Finally, the measurement accuracy remains stable long-term under continuous corrosive working conditions, with no frequent maintenance or component replacement required, lowering overall operation costs.
